Poster making competition on gender equality held

UDHAMPUR, Mar 8: Department of Sociology, Government College For Women (GCW) Udhampur, organized a Poster Making Competition on the occasion of "International Women's Day" on the theme "Gender Equality" here today at college campus.
The programme was conducted under the able guidance of Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr.) Nalini Pathania.
Prof. (Dr.) Nalini Pathania, stressed on the fact that now-a-days women are playing roles the same as men do. She also focused on empowerment of women through various opportunities that are provided in different institutional fields of society. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Swati Dutt (HOD Sociology) while the vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Nishi Slathia.
The students from different semesters of the College participated enthusiastically and expressed their views through their posters. The posters were adjudged by Ms. Meenakshi Jamwal (Asstt. Prof. Dept. of Commerce), Ms. Shama Rani (Asstt. Prof. Dept. of Dogri) and Ms. Pooja Bharti (Asstt. Prof. Dept. of Geography).
In the Poster making Competition, Mehvish Akhter secured first position, Poonam Sharma secured second position and Suman Thakur secured third position (students of Semester VI). The prizes were distributed to the winners of the competition. Further refreshment was also distributed to all the participants of the competition.
