Peace Education Workshop concludes at University of Jammu

JAMMU, Mar 8: The Peace Education Workshop, a four-day initiative aimed at fostering conflict resolution skills, interpersonal harmony, and holistic well-being, successfully concluded at the Institute of Human Genetics, University of Jammu. Organized through a collaborative effort between the Department of Zoology, Institute of Human Genetics, and Department of Pediatrics (SMGS Hospital, GMC Jammu), the event was held in partnership with EQRA Foundation, Jammu, under the Mission Program on Pediatric Rare Genetic Diseases, DBT, GoI, New Delhi.
The Valedictory Ceremony was attended by esteemed dignitaries. Prof. Yash Pal Sharma, Dean of Life Sciences, University of Jammu, served as the Chief Guest, while Prof. Sanjeev K. Digra from the Department of Pediatrics, SMGS Hospital, graced the occasion as Guest of Honour. Prof. Pankaj Kumar from the Department of Zoology presided over the event, alongside Co-Convenor Prof. B.K. Bajaj, Simran Kaur (Co-Founder & President, EQRA), Dr. Parvinder Kumar (Deputy Coordinator & Organising Secretary), Dr. Mohd Younis (Co-Organising Secretary), and Dr. Monika Pandita. The event was moderated by Dr. Meenakshee Sharma and witnessed active participation from students, faculty, and volunteers.
During his address, Prof. Yash Pal Sharma lauded EQRA's contributions, emphasizing the intrinsic link between peace, nature, and inner well-being. He also recognized the collaborative research efforts between the Institute of Human Genetics and the Department of Pediatrics. Prof. Sanjeev K. Digra highlighted the significance of peace education in the medical field and commended Simran Kaur's insights into its connection with epigenetics.
Prof. B.K. Bajaj underscored the role of peace education in fostering socially cohesive communities. Simran Kaur presented a comprehensive report on the workshop's impact, showcasing its transformative influence on participants.
The workshop's success was driven by the dedicated contributions of EQRA volunteers, including Janvi Kaur, Simran Kaur, Sarleen Kaur, and Gurpreet Kaur, who played an instrumental role in facilitating discussions and activities. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Kanwal Singh.
With its conclusion, the workshop leaves behind a strong legacy, inspiring participants to integrate the principles of peace education into their daily lives, ultimately contributing to a more understanding and harmonious society.
