| Lecture on Women Health and Hygiene organized at GDC Nagrota | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 10: Under the aegis of IQAC, Women Development and Empowerment Cell GDC Nagrota organized a lecture on Menstrual Health and Hygiene. The lecture was organized in continuum to International Women's Day Celebrations. It was delivered by Dr. Mahvaish presently posted at NTPHC Nagrota. She educated young girls about impact of unhygienic practices being followed during menstruation. She also talked about PCOS/ PCOD and vaccines available today to curb Cervical cancer. The lecture aimed to raise awareness and educate participants on critical health issues affecting women, emphasizing the importance of preventive care, early diagnosis, and healthy lifestyle choices. The lecture concluded with a focus on nutrition, emphasizing its role in overall health and disease prevention. The importance of a balanced diet rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants was stressed, along with the need to avoid processed foods and maintain hydration. Special attention was given to dietary needs during different life stages and conditions like PCOS. Principal of the College Prof. Anjali Mahajan addressed the students and stressed the need for breaking societal taboos surrounding women's health. She encouraged the students to prioritize their well-being and actively seek accurate information about health issues. Her message set the tone for an open and engaging discussion. Formal welcome address was given by Prof. Aanchal Sharma (Co- convenor Women Development and Empowerment Cell).
