Jammu, Mar 10: The SPARSH Sub-Committee of Cluster University Jammu proudly commemorated International Women’s Day with a one-day workshop aimed at celebrating the achievements of women and fostering discussions on their empowerment. The event took place on March 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Smart Classroom of PSPS College, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. It witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, students, and esteemed guest speakers, making it a memorable occasion dedicated to recognizing and uplifting women in various spheres of life. The workshop commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Anuradha Gandotra, Convenor of the SPARSH Sub-Committee, who emphasized the importance of International Women’s Day as a platform to honour the resilience, achievements, and contributions of women across different domains. She reiterated the need for collective efforts in ensuring gender equality and fostering an inclusive society.The event was structured into two insightful sessions, each focusing on crucial aspects of women’s empowerment. The first session featured an enlightening presentation by Dr. Suraj Mohini Jamwal, a renowned academician and advocate for women's rights. Dr. Jamwal delved into pressing issues concerning women's empowerment, addressing key challenges such as gender discrimination, societal expectations, and the role of education in enabling women to break barriers. Her thought-provoking discourse inspired attendees and provided them with valuable perspectives on fostering gender equality. The second session was dedicated to celebrating success stories and personal achievements. Ms. Nazia and Ms. Aneesha, distinguished sportswomen of the college, shared their inspiring journeys, highlighting the perseverance, dedication, and resilience required to excel in the field of sports. Their narratives served as a motivation for students, showcasing the significance of determination and hard work in overcoming obstacles and achieving success.In addition to these inspiring sessions, students actively participated in various activities that underscored the importance of Women's Day. Engaging PowerPoint presentations, speeches, and poster presentations were conducted, focusing on themes related to gender equality, women's rights, and female empowerment. These presentations allowed students to express their thoughts, research, and creative perspectives on issues affecting women today. The workshop concluded with a felicitation ceremony, where Principal of the college , Prof.S.S.Parihar appreciated the students for actively participating in the workshop and awarded the certificates among all attendees, acknowledging their enthusiasm and contributions to the event. This was followed by a light refreshment session, fostering informal discussions and networking among participants.The SPARSH Sub-Committee of PSPS College expressed gratitude to all speakers, participants, and faculty members for their active involvement in making the event a grand success. The workshop served as a meaningful initiative to empower, educate, and inspire individuals to work towards a more inclusive and equitable society.
