GDC Sidhra organizes 'Health Awareness Programme

Jammu, Mar 10: In continuation with the series of activities being organized to commemorate International Women’s Day 2025, NSS unit and Cultural Committee of GDC Sidhra in collaboration with the Directorate of Mission Poshan, J&K and Directorate of Health, J&K organized an ‘Health Awareness Programme’ at Aaganwadi Centre, Bain Bajalta. Dr. Vandana, Medical Officer, NTPHC, Bain Bajalta and Dr. Sarika, Medical Officer, Department of Ayush, Bain Bajalta were the resource persons for the occasion. To begin with, Dr. Vandana delivered an elaborative lecture covering themes of vital significance. She deliberated upon and generated awareness regarding mental health, menstrual hygiene and importance of balanced diet. Proceeding further, Dr. Sarika interacted with the female NSS Volunteers of the college and aaganwadi workers wherein they discussed about their issues and problems with her at length. She further suggested them remedial measures for their problems and also distributed free medicines to them. As a part of their contribution, NSS Volunteers educated the aaganwadi workers and local community about some themes of great concern like female foeticide, girl education, domestic violence etc. using placards and posters. Towards the end of the programme the NSS Volunteers of the college formed a human chain depicting the logo of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao. This programme was aimed to raise knowledge and consciousness as a step towards empowering women. The event was a grand success and well organised by Dr. Purvaiya Hans, NSS Programme officer, Dr. Harpreet Kour, Dr. Pooja Sharma, Dr. Anu Sharma, Dr. Mansoor Ali with active support of the entire NSS team under the able guidance of Dr. G S Rakwal, worthy Principal of the college.
