| Security tightened across Jammu ahead of polls | | | Early Times Report Jammu, April 14 : Amid intelligence inputs and speculations about possible militants’ strike in Jammu city in wake of parliamentary elections in the state starting from April 16, security arrangements have been beefed up in various public places especially at sensitive areas including Jammu Railway Station. Hundreds of security staff have been deployed at the different areas, additional nakas have been established, surprise check has been maintained, and police in civil have been deployed at the suspected places which might be the target of militants. In Jammu Railway Station security has been strengthened by additional deployment. Police have imposed restriction on the entry of vehicle in the side railway station and after through checking passengers have been allowed to enter to the station. On the one hand it has been generating a sense of security among the people from across the country arriving in the city of temples, but on the other it is also creating problems for the visitors in the railway station due to strict security arrangements. SHO Police Station Railway Station Yash Pal Singh Sambyal told News Agency of Kashmir that nakas have been strengthened by deploying additional of cops adding said that “Work load has been increased since last few weeks with the announcement of parliamentary elections”.
Singh said that all the leaves have been cancelled by the police department so that required police and security staff could be made available at the needed places. Referring to the improved security conduction in side the railway station, SHO Singh said that to avid any untoward incident in the ever busy station, more commandos under the supervision of two police officers have been pressed into services. He said that every thing being carried by the passenger in the railway station is adequately scanned in the scanners. On regular routine, he said that railway tracks have been properly checked by all the concerned police stations in their concerned. “We have been regularly spreading awareness among the people that if they find any unclaimed object of any thing they should immediately inform the police”, the SHO said.
