Degree College (GDC) Neeli Nallah Udhampur organized a series of events from March 8 to March 12, 2025, under the theme "For All Women and Girls: Right, Equality, and Empowerment" to mark International Women's Day. The celebrations, led by Principal Prof. Dr. Seema Arora, highlighted the achievements and contributions of women while emphasizing the need for gender equality.
On March 8, the college's girl students participated in a district-level competition organized by the Special Cell of Women, District Police Udhampur. Their Dogri dance performance, presented in front of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Ms. Saloni Rai and other dignitaries, earned them accolades and prizes. The students were accompanied by Dr. Sunil Tanoch, Convenor, Cultural Committee. Additionally, a counseling session was conducted in the college to promote critical thinking, public speaking, and awareness about women's rights.
As part of the celebrations, a two-day workshop was held on March 10-11 in collaboration with the APEX BODY of SPARSH, Cluster University of Jammu. The first session featured an online awareness lecture by Dr. Jyoti Sharma, Associate Professor, University of Jammu, who discussed career opportunities for girls and the challenges faced by women. Students actively engaged in discussions and activities focusing on gender equality, women's rights, and empowerment. The workshop concluded with a felicitation ceremony, where the Principal appreciated the students and staff for their participation. Addressing the gathering, she stated, "We celebrate International Women's Day to recognize women's achievements and reaffirm our commitment to a future where men and women stand as equals."
