Prithviraj Chavan addressed impressive public meetings at Manjakote and Kotranka in Rajouri district today. Winding up the election campaign on the concluding day today in the twin border districts, the senior leaders of the coalition parties urged the people to defeat communal and divisive forces and vote for peace, progress and prosperity. The rallies were also addressed by Mian Altaf-Minister, Davinder Singh Rana-MLC and Political Advisor to Chief Minister, Shabir Ahmed Khan-MLA, Thakur Rashpal Singh-MLA, Thakur Puran Singh-ex-Minister, Ch. Liaqat Ali and other senior leaders of National Conference and Congress. Omar Abdullah in his address cautioned the people against the politics of division and opportunism of BJP. People have to choose between alliance candidate of secular and progressive forces and those of communal and divisive forces who had pushed the state into danger of disunity and disintegration. He said that Congress led government at the centre can best secure and promote the interests of the state and said that Dr. Manmohan Singh had the earnest desire to develop Jammu and Kashmir as model state in the country. Incharge General Secretary J&K Prithviraj Chavan-MOS PMO in his speech referred to the number of achievements of the Dr. Manmohan Singh government and the keen interest shown in the overall development of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that Congress alone is capable of representing the sentiments of people of all faiths and sections in the country and there is no alternative of Congress led UPA and later will stage a comeback at the centre and Dr. Manmohan Singh will lead the nation again. He appealed to the people to strengthen the hands of Sonia Gandhi and Dr. Manmohan Singh for the overall development and strengthening of secular forces in the country. Union Minister for Water Resources and PCC President Prof. Saifuddin Soz in address lashed out on BJP for its politics of hate and opportunism. He said that BJP and its candidate stands exposed before the people for their politics of ‘deception’ and ‘opportunism’ and would face a defeat in the election. He appealed to people to unitedly vote for secular alliance candidate Madan Lal Sharma. Shabir Ahmed Khan-MLA in his address put forth the demand of people for opening of Degree Collage and ITI in Manjakote. He also urged for lowering the eligibility qualification for class-IV and police department as middle pass. Thakur Puran Singh-ex-Minister in his address highlighted the backwardness of Budhal area and urged for special care and thrust for development of this area.
