Jammu, Mar 12: Government College for Women (GCW), Bhagwati Nagar, celebrated International Women’s Day with a vibrant cultural-cum-literary program organized by the Cultural Committee under the guidance of Convener Dr. Poonam Kumari. The event honored women’s achievements and reinforced the ideals of gender equality and empowerment.
Principal Dr. Meeru Abrol inaugurated the event with an inspiring address, emphasizing the crucial role of education in fostering gender equality. She encouraged students to pursue their ambitions with confidence, highlighting that educated women contribute significantly to societal progress.
The program featured a series of captivating performances:
• Speeches: Simran Verma and Gurleen Kour delivered powerful speeches on women’s resilience and societal impact.
• Poetry Recitations: Ritika Pangotra, Jaspreet Kour, and Mahima Thakur captivated the audience with evocative poetry on women’s struggles and aspirations.
• Song Performance: Priya Amla’s soulful rendition celebrating women’s strength and grace was met with enthusiastic applause.
• Dance Performance: Vanshika’s dynamic dance portrayed the journey of women toward empowerment, adding an emotional depth to the celebration.
Prof. Nisha Bhagat delivered the vote of thanks, appreciating the participants, organizers, and attendees for their contributions. Esteemed faculty members, including Prof. Anju Bala, Dr. Mosmai Raina, Prof. Gagan Jyoti, Dr. Kamal Deep Singh, and others, graced the occasion, reinforcing the college’s commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.
