Jammu, Mar 11: The Shri Ram Universal School, in collaboration with the Nations Development Association (NDA), affiliated with MYBharat-NYK under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, successfully organized the ‘Viksit Yuva Samelan’ under the Y20 Summit with the theme “Shared Future: Youth in Democracy and Governance.” The event aimed to empower young minds by fostering discussions on democracy, governance, and leadership, providing a platform for youth to engage with experts, policymakers, and industry leaders.
The seminar commenced with a warm welcome note presented by the Principal of The Shri Ram Universal School, Ms. Sonika Mahajan. The event was graced by Ms. Sunaina Mehta, Principal, Revenue Training Institute, as the Chief Guest. Shilpa Dubey, DDC Member Vijaypur, attended as the Special Guest, further adding significance to the occasion. The esteemed panel of experts included Aijaz Qaiser (Joint Director, Tourism), Anissa Nabi (Senior Project Manager, J&K Rural Livelihood Mission), Ekshu Sharma (District Information Officer), Dr. Akshay Parihar (BDO Khellani), Maansi Gupta (Director, MG Design), Jasleen Kour (Founder & CEO, Branding Elves), Abheet Sangotra (Youth Advisory Council Member), and Apurv Gupta (Director, JKMS).
Prominent speakers such as Heena Mahajan (Writer and Co-Convenor of Duggar Baradaari- Team Jammu), Sannak Shrivats (State Secretary, ABVP), Ananya Manyal (Production Strategy Head, The Unheard Mehfil Podcast), Dheeraj Sharma (Social Activist), Sunita (Assistant Professor), Dr. Swati Mahajan (Medical Officer, RBSK), Sahil Bharti (Advocate), and Tabassum Nabi (BSc Nursing) shared their invaluable insights on the role of youth in democratic governance. Throughout their speeches, speakers and panelists highlighted the significance of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasizing their relevance in governance, leadership, and youth engagement.
The event was further enriched by the presence of esteemed delegates, including Preeti Choudhary, Narinder Singh, Tarun Uppal, Rahul Kumar, and Rakshant Balotra and Sahaj Sabharwal, who contributed to the meaningful discussions on youth-led development.
Adding to the grandeur of the occasion, the Chairman of The Shri Ram Universal School, Mr. Sanjeev Mahajan, and Director, Ms. Rajni Gupta, graced the event with their esteemed presence. The seminar witnessed enthusiastic participation, with around 200 young individuals attending as an engaged audience.
The event concluded on a high note with a Vote of Thanks delivered by the Headmistress, Ms. Shivani Vaid, and the Chief Functionary of the NDA, Mr. Sushil Singh Charak. Their words of gratitude acknowledged the collective efforts of all dignitaries, panelists, speakers, and the young attendees in making the event a resounding success.
The ‘Viksit Yuva Samelan’ stood as a testament to the power of youth in shaping a participatory and inclusive democracy. Through insightful discussions and knowledge-sharing, the event inspired young leaders to take an active role in governance and policy-making, fostering a brighter future for all. The initiative aligned with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16 – Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, which emphasizes the promotion of inclusive and participatory governance.
