3/12/2025 10:38:41 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 12: On the directions of SSP Jammu, SP South continuing its operation code-named "Ploughing", aimed at cracking down on illegal mining activities across the region. The operation was led by SDPO South and SDPO East, with SHOs and ICPPs of South Zone executing targeted enforcement actions against violators. Over the last 48 hours ie last two days, South Zone has made seven major seizures, dealing a decisive blow to illegal mineral extraction.
The most significant seizure took place at PP Belicharana, where one excavator (Poclain) along with one JCB was seized while engaged in illegal mining at River Tawi. The Poclain excavator was responsible for digging massive holes in the riverbed, leading to severe ecological imbalance and disruption of the natural flow of the river. This action marks a major step in protecting the environment from the devastating effects of unauthorized mining.
Additionally, Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu seized two dumpers loaded with RBM (River Bed Material) being transported illegally, while PP Phallian Mandal seized two tractor trolleys involved in unauthorized mining. Furthermore, PP Gadi Garh seized one tractor trolley loaded with boulders, adding to the multiple enforcement actions taken to curb mineral smuggling. The DMO, Jammu has been informed for necessary legal action.
Jammu Police has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against illegal mining, ensuring strict enforcement and swift action against violators. The crackdown will continue with intensified monitoring and legal proceedings against those involved in mineral smuggling.
In a separate initiative, Police Stations across the South Zone engaged with 35 senior citizens, addressing their concerns related to safety, security, and well-being. This proactive step strengthens police-community relations and enhances support systems for elderly residents.
Jammu Police remains committed to safeguarding natural resources, enforcing the law, and fostering strong community engagement for a safer and more secure society.
