Srinagar, April 14: Maintaining that the third front will play an important role in the government formation, former Chief Minister and National Conference, President Farooq Abdullah said that he prays for Geelani good health and asked him to go ahead with his poll boycott campaign.
“I wish him good health and long life. God bless him,” Abdullah told reporters at the sidelines of Jammu Kashmir Cricket Association meeting that was held at a hotel here on Tuesday morning,
Reports reaching Press Bureau of Indi said that Abdullah was responding to the question regarding the boycott call given by the Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
Maintaining that the third front will play a vital role in government formation, Abdullah said that neither Prime Minister Manmohan Singh nor Lal Kishan Advani can rule out the importance of third front. He said in parliamentary elections, every individual counts.
“Third front will play an important part. Manmohan Singh or Advani ji can’t rule it out,” NC President said. “Everything will be crystal clear on May 16,” he added.
Reiterating that there was no Taliban presence in the valley, Abdullah said that Director General of police telephoned him to convey that there were no Taliban militants in the valley and the same had been wrongly reported. He said even Home Minister of India, P Chidambaram is on record of having said that Taliban militants were not present in valley.
“There are no Taliban militants in the valley. Though some militant outfits like Jaish-e-Muhammad have been active in valley from last couple of years,” Abdullah said.
