| Tributes paid to Baba Sahib Ambedkar at Leh | | | Early Times Report
Leh, Apr 15: The 118th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna, Baba Sahib Bhim Rao Ambedkar was celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion at a function held at Leh historic polo ground. Nearly 5000 people gathered at the venue to pay homage to Dr. Ambedkar and remembered his contributions for the welfare of poor and downtrodden people. The function was organized by the Ladakh Buddhism Association and Youth. District Superintending Engineer MC Bhagat who is also the President of Ambedkar Foundation J&K State was the chief guest on the occasion while President LBA, Lobzang Rinchen was the guest of honor. Speakers on the occasion highlighted the role of Dr. Ambedkar in the up-liftment of weaker section in India who were suffering at the cruel hands of the so called high society at that point of time. Saluting his un-ending efforts to achieve and ensure equality, righteousness, impartiality and justice, the speakers threw light on Dr. Ambedkar endeavours and contributions. The President, LBA Youth, Tsewang Thinles urged to celebrate this important Day in a more befitting way so that it could become a true homage to Baba Sahib who dedicated and devoted his whole life for betterment of the powerless and suffering people.
