| ASI to mark heritage day at Pari Mahal | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 15: The Archaeological Survey of India, (ASI) Srinagar Circle, Jammu is celebrating the World Heritage Day on April 19 all centrally protected monuments located in Jammu and Kashmir state. This year the celebration is scheduled to be held at centrally protected monument at Pari Mahal, Srinagar. As per press release the main objective of the world heritage day is to involve the youth of local school and collage in protection, preservation and propagation of our great heritage for which our country is world famous. A Photo-exhibition and other cultural awareness programme on the eve of the World Heritage Day is being organized at the premises of monument at Pari Mahal, highlighting the recent Archaeological activities in the Jammu and Kashmir state, which includes conservation of monuments, exploration and excavation in addition to photographs of the monuments inscribed in the World Heritage list shall be on display.
On the occasion Vice Chancellor, Kashmir University Prof. Riyaz Punjabi will inaugurate the photo exhibition on recent archaeological activities in Jammu and Kashmir. Prof Ishaq Khan, a farmers historian will deliver key note address on History and Heritage. Prof. Fida Hussain, will preside over the function, while Parves Koul, Principal, Bisco and Mallinson, Higher Secondary School, Srinagar will be guest of Honour. During the inauguration a brochure on the Centrally Protected monuments/ sites on Kashmir and Ladakh region will be released. Superintending Archaeologist, Archaeological Survey of India, Srinagar Circle, R. Krishnaiah has made an appeal to the public especially young generation to attend the photo-exhibition and encourage them to safeguard our great Cultural Heritage for future generations.
