Research Methodology Course in Social Science concluded

JAMMU, Mar 15: Research Methodology Course in Social Science sponsored by ICSSR, concluded at School of Business Studies, Central University of Jammu. Ten-day capacity building programme sponsored by Indian Council for Social Science Research, New Delhi conducted under the guidance and mentorship of Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu hosted by Department of TTM, CU Jammu concluded after enlightening session by Prof. D. Mehta a well-known name in data analytics. The event witnessed participation of more than 33 participants and 16 faculty members from within and outside the UT of Jammu & Kashmir representing diverse disciplines. The valedictory programme was graced by Deans, Head of Departments and faculty members from School of Business Studies including Dr. Ranjeet Kumar Raman, Dr. Neelika Arora, Dr. Gowhar Rasool, Dr. Anjali Pathania, Dr. Amit Gangotia, Dr. Bharti Gupta, Dr. Susmita Ekka, Mr. Biswabhusan Pradhan, Dr Asif Ali, Mr. Rahul Thakur and Dr. Shahid Mushtaq.
This programme was supported by the Indian Council of Social Science Research as part of its nationwide initiative to raise the quality of research in the country. The programme was attended by the Research Scholars from pan India including the scholars from Central University of Jammu. Acclaimed resource persons including Prof. Saurabh Agrawal, Prof. D. Mehta, Prof. R. R. Sharma, Dr. Shankar M., Dr. Manorama Tripathi, Prof. Hardeep Chahal, Prof. Jeevan Jyoti, Prof. Anil Gupta, Prof. Manish Sharma, Prof. J. N. Baliya, Prof. Santap S. Mishra, Prof. A K. Nanda, Dr. R. K. Raman, Prof. J. Bhasin & Dr. S. Mushtaq. Research scholars from different HEIs participated in the Programme and engaged in various sessions.
During these ten days participants were introduced with theoretical aspects of quantitative and qualitative methodology besides practical sessions and data analysis tools using various softwares viz. SPSS, SMART-PLS, JAMOVI, R, ATLAS-TI, citation management, AI and anti-plagiarism tools etc. As part of the Research Methodology Course in Social Science, a field visit was organized to provide participants with hands-on experience in data collection and research methodology wherein participants were divided into small groups and assigned tasks to collect data using various methods, such as surveys, interviews, and observations. The field visit provided participants with valuable practical experience in data collection and research methodology therefore bridging the gap between theoretical concepts and practical applications, and equipped them with the skills and confidence to conduct research in real-world settings. Participants received guidance on writing research papers, including structure, content, and style. The field visit, paper clinics, data analysis, and report presentation were a resounding success. Participants developed their research skills, improved their writing and presentation skills, and gained confidence in their abilities. The RMC program has equipped participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to conduct high-quality research and present their findings effectively.
