Thukjey Gonpa polling station has just six voters; Chuchot Gongma highest 1324 voters

Leh, Apr 15- The election to the Ladakh Parliamentary constituency is being held in the last phase on May 13.
According to the Returning Officer Leh, Ajeet Kumar Sahu, the date of filing nomination papers would commence from April 17 and last date for filing nominations would be April 24. The scrutiny of the nominations papers shall be conducted on April 25 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature would be April 27. He said the polling, if necessary shall be held on May 13 and counting of votes shall be held on May 16, 2009
Sahu further said that 239 polling stations have been set up in Leh district as 237 polling stations in Kargil district. He said that polling station No 157-Chuchot Gongma is having the highest number of 1324 voters while the polling station No 171- Thukjey Gonpa has the lowest number of six voters. The polling station No 181-Anlay Fu situated at a height of 15,000 ft above the sea level is the highest polling station of the constituency.
The constituency has a total electorate of 1, 52,391 voters of which 74,475 are male and 73,922 female voters, besides 3942 service voters. A total of 476 polling stations have been established in both the districts of Leh and Kargil. Of these seven polling stations in Kargil would be covered through helicopter service. Sahu further said that seven polling stations in Zanskar assembly segment and six polling stations in Leh segment would be provided helicopter service to lift polling staff and polling material. He said that in case of non clearance of Kargil-Padam road, election material and polling staff for 49 polling stations of Zanskar assembly segment would also be airlifted from Kargil. Likewise in the case of non-clearance of road another six polling stations of Leh segment would also be provided helicopter service.
He said that election controls and complaint cells have been set up in Deputy Commissioner’s offices both at Leh and Kargil and anybody having complaint or enquiry regarding election process could contact the control room for redressal.
