Early Times Report
BANDIPORA, Mar 15: As per Action Plan for the year 2025 and Calendar of Activities for the month of March, 2025, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Bandipora in collaboration with Tehsil Legal Services Committee Sumbal today organized a legal awareness programme on 'World Consumer Rights Day' at Court Complex Sumbal.
The event was held under the chairmanship of Khalil Ahmad Choudhary, Chairman DLSA Bandipora and under the guidance of Iqbal Ahmad Akhoon, Secretary DLSA Bandipora.
DLSA Bandipora reflects on the critical role consumers play in shaping fair, ethical, and sustainable markets. This year's theme, 'Empowering Consumers for a Safer, Fairer Future,' highlights the ongoing need to protect consumer rights in an era of rapid technological advancement, global supply chains, and growing concerns about data privacy, product safety and environmental sustainability.
On the occasion, PLVs delivered lectures regarding consumer rights. The speakers highlighted that under the provisions as envisaged in the legislature, rights are being bestowed upon the consumers so that they are not ditched or cheated. A consumer has a right to question the quality of things, price, tag etc. from the shopkeeper while making purchases ensuring that customers are not duped and compelled to purchase substandard items.
