SMVDU Students Visit AIIMS Jammu
3/16/2025 10:18:39 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 16: The fourth-year students of the School of Architecture and Landscape Design (SoALD), Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), conducted a case study visit to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Jammu as part of their academic curriculum. The visit was coordinated by faculty members Ar. Navin Gupta and Ar. Abhimanyu Sharma.
The initiative was facilitated by the esteemed Director of AIIMS and Dr. Sanjolly Gupta, whose support played a crucial role in ensuring a productive learning experience for the students. Ar. Narinder, a key resource person at the site, accompanied the students and provided an in-depth explanation of the site planning and architectural framework of the entire AIIMS Jammu campus. The students gained valuable insights into the complexities of hospital design, including zoning strategies, circulation planning, patient flow management, emergency response considerations, and sustainable design aspects. This case study visit was particularly significant as the fourth-year students are currently engaged in designing a hospital as part of their Architectural Design studio exercise. The firsthand exposure to a large-scale healthcare facility will enable them to incorporate practical and functional solutions into their design projects, aligning with contemporary architectural standards and healthcare requirements. The students and faculty members expressed their gratitude to the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of SMVDU and the Head of SoALD for their continuous encouragement and support in facilitating such enriching academic experiences. These industry interactions and site explorations remain vital in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world architectural practice.
