Early Times Report RAJOURI, Mar 17: A one-day awareness and sensitization programme on the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, was successfully organized on January 4, 2025, at Thandi Kassi, District Rajouri. The event, supported by the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, was conducted by the Human Organisation for Patronisation of Environment (HOPE). The programme aimed to educate the public about the rights and welfare of senior citizens and the legal provisions ensuring their dignity and care. The event was graced by esteemed guests, including Chief Guest Romesh Sharma, Minkle Kumar, Advocate Asif Mir, Advocate Tranum Malik, Sarpanch Doingi Amrit Lal (ex-serviceman), ward members, and local villagers. The speakers emphasized the importance of respecting and supporting elders and discussed ways to strengthen community efforts in safeguarding their well-being.
