SKUAST-Jammu organizes Farmers Interactive Meet/Training Programme

JAMMU, Mar 17: The Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry at SKUAST-Jammu collaborated with ICAR-National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources (ICAR-NBAGR), Karnal, Haryana, to host a Farmers Interactive Meet/Training Programme on March 17, 2025. The event, under the esteemed leadership of Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) B.N Tripathi, and the able guidance of Dr. Rajesh Katoch, Dean of F.V.Sc. & A.H., aimed to educate farmers on various aspects of animal health, nutrition, breeding, feeding, and management, along with the significant role of preserving our indigenous germplasm. The initiative included provision of feed, medicines, and distribution of leaflets on local languages. The event witnessed the presence of the Swarn Lal Sarpanch of Suchetgarh village and Ms. Darshana Devi Sarpanch of Salher Village who expressed gratitude on behalf of the villagers for the initiative, highlighting its importance. Over 60 farmers attended, receiving livestock kits. Dean, Dr. Rajesh Katoch has sensitized the farmers regarding the importance of livestock rearing. Dr. Anil Kumar Pandey discussed on various reproductive problems like repeat breeding, anestrous, and delayed estrous. Dr. Dibyendu Chakraborty, Organizing Secretary deliberated on livestock breeds and breeding practices and how preservation of indigenous breeds can be profitable to farmers. Dr. Kawardeep Kour discussed about the importance of stress management among livestock. Co-Organizing secretaries Dr. Aditi Lal Koul and Dr. Kawardeep Kour, along with students Dr. Vidushi Sharma and Dr. Soshthi Talwar were actively engaged with farmers, resulting in overwhelming positive feedback from attendees.
