HC directs for filing status report, failing which DIG crime shall appear in person

Jammu, Apr 15: In a much publicized murder case of Ghulam Mohammed Rather resident of Goilbar Tehsil Gandoh, who was murdered by the accused persons in the evening of November 16, 2009 Justice YP Nargotra of J&K High Court in a contempt petition has granted two weeks time for filing the status report failing which the DIG Crime and Railways shall have to appear in person along with the case diaries on the next date of hearing.
Additional Advocate General PC Sharma appearing for the state sought time for filling status report.
In the petition it has been submitted that the deceased Ghulam Mohammed Rather happened to be class fellow of former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad. The petitioner and the relation of the deceased submitted that sequence of events clearly indicated conspiracy having been hatched by one Abdul Rashid brother-in-law of Mohammed Sharief Naiz former power minister presently MLC, his nephew Fiaz Mohammed and Mohaammed Younis along with other private respondents under the guidance of Mohammed Sharief Niaz for doing away with the life of deceased Ghulam Mohammed Rather. Then Chief Minister when informed about the whole episode by a delegation of the people of the area headed by ex-MLC Mohammed Iqbal Bhat had instructed IGP Crime and Railways to look into the matter seriously and not to spare any one whosoever influential he may be. Immediately thereafter it seems that Faqir Mohammed appeared before IG Crime and Railway and disclosed the names of the persons involved in the heinous crime.
It was further submitted in the petition that deceased had political affiliation with National Conference and on this issue it has been alleged that deceased was murdered. The petitioner sought investigation through CBI or team of Crime Branch headed by an Officer not below the rank of DIG. JNF
