MLA Arvind raises key issues of West Constituency in Assembly, demands urgent Govt action
3/17/2025 9:27:55 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 17: Senior BJP leader and MLA West Constituency, Arvind Gupta strongly voiced the pressing concerns of his constituency while speaking during the Grants discussion in the Assembly. Highlighting the glaring deficiencies in public infrastructure and transportation, he urged the government to take immediate steps to provide basic amenities to the residents of Jammu West.
Arvind emphasized that the lack of proper transportation services has been a long-standing issue in his constituency. He pointed out that while the Chief Minister has promised free travel for women in government buses, there is an urgent need to introduce e-minibuses in West Constituency to cater to the growing demand for public transport.
To maintain road discipline and ease congestion, he also demanded designated stoppage points for minibuses.
Expressing concern over the unplanned urbanization of Jammu West, Arvind Gupta stated that several areas lack essential infrastructure, including proper parking facilities.
He warned that the absence of structured urban planning is causing significant inconvenience to the residents.
The senior BJP leader also lamented the silent migration of youth from Jammu and Kashmir over the past three decades due to the lack of industrial growth and employment opportunities.
“If the government envisions a ‘Naya Jammu and Kashmir,’ it must secure a future for the youth of J&K by promoting industrialization and employment generation,” he asserted.
The senior BJP leader also raised the issue of inadequate sports facilities in Jammu. He highlighted the poor condition of Guru Tegh Bahadur Stadium in Gole Gujral, which lacks basic amenities.
He revealed that he had written to the Union Sports Minister on November 6, 2024, regarding the issue but had not received any response. Additionally, he pointed out that the Khel Gaon, established on 170 kanals of land in Jammu, has been reduced to a mere open ground due to administrative apathy. He stressed the need for its proper utilization to encourage sports activities and nurture local talent.
In a major demand aimed at boosting sports and tourism, Arvind Gupta urged the government to establish two international level stadiums in Jammu and Kashmir, designed in accordance with the region’s weather conditions. He stated that well-equipped stadiums would not only provide world-class sports facilities but also attract tourists, thereby contributing to the economic growth of the Union Territory.
“The government must fulfill its commitments and ensure that Jammu West does not continue to be neglected. It is imperative to take immediate action on these pressing issues for the overall development of the region,” he asserted.
The BJP leader reiterated his commitment to raising the concerns of the people of Jammu West and ensuring that necessary measures are taken to address their grievances effectively.
