Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 15- The leader of the BJP Legislators Party, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has asked the Congress to come out clearly about their stand regarding the National Conference leader, Dr. Farooq Abdullah’s assertion for restoration of pro-1953 status of Jammu and Kashmir as being their main agenda, especially when the Congress is in coalition with the NC, and have begun their new inning without any Common Minimum Program for running the show.
Commenting upon the statement of Dr. Farooq Abdullah that restoration of Autonomy would be their main agenda, Prof. Gupta asserted that BJP would oppose tooth and nail any move aiming at reversal of the integration process. He said it was unfortunate that Congress had never a Kashmir policy and it was because of the follies of the Congress leadership the entire country is facing a sad music of the separatists and semi-secessionists. Because of this sort of separatism the people of Jammu and Kashmir are the worst sufferers, he added.
The BJP leader observed that the reunion of the Congress-National Conference is a dangerous signal and the people in general especially the nationalists should take note of the moves of the two parties which were responsible for so many ills in Jammu and Kashmir. These very parties were responsible for the growing discrimination against Jammu as also in putting an embargo to check the fair delimitation of Assembly constituencies till 2026. And now mysterious increase in the number of electorates of Kashmir and drastic cut in the strength of number of voters in Jammu well indicates the designs for the future things to come, he pointed out.
Prof. Gupta appealed to the voters to ask the Congressmen of Jammu and the facilitators in the National Conference that how the strength of Jammu voters has suddenly come down in Jammu and big increase in the Valley of Kashmir.
He also asked the protagonists of Autonomy to explain that how the separate status of this State has helped the people and who was responsible for making a mockery of the democratic institutions by not holding their elections regularly and empowering these bodies including the Panchayats and the civic institutions.
The BJP leader also maintained that by taking advantage of Article 370, the ruling leaders of the National Conference and those of the Congress are responsible for not providing political reservation and other benefits to Gujjar Bakerwals and other down-trodden but for their communal and parochial thinking.
