GDC Ganderbal organizes seminar on the "Essence of Ramadan"

SRINAGAR, Mar 19: The departments of Islamic Studies and Urdu of Govt. Degree College Ganderbal organized a one-day seminar on "Essence of Ramadan: Nurturing Faith, Discipline and Spiritual Resilience" on Tuesday in the college auditorium. The seminar aimed to explore the significance of fasting in cultivating faith, piety, self-discipline, and spiritual growth.
Under the patronage of the principal of the college, Prof. Fouzia Fatima, the seminar was jointly convened by Dr. Tauseef Ahmad Parray (Assistant Professor/ HOD, Islamic Studies) and Dr. Jamsheeda Akhter (AP/ HOD, Urdu). Prof. Mujeeb Kawoosa (Vice-Principal/ HOD Mathematics) delivered the welcome address, underscoring the significance of the seminar's theme.
Dr. Jamsheeda moderated the seminar and presented an introduction, highlighting the essence and spirit of fasting and the blessings of Ramadan. The seminar began with a recitation of selected verses from Surah al-Baqarah (2: 183-186) by Dr. Ghulam Mustafa, followed by a soulful Naat by Arsalan Ahmad (6th sem student).
The keynote speaker, Dr. Mohd. Iqbal Malik (Assistant Professor/ HOD, Islamic Studies, GDC Pampore) discussed in detail "Ramadan: Socio-Spiritual and Economic Transformation", emphasizing the social, economic, ethical, and spiritual significance of the fasting and Ramadan. "Fasting is for a change in the society and Ramadan restores the socio-economic fabric of our society", he said.
Two students, Sakhira Bashir and Sameer Ahmad Khan, also shared their insights on the seminar's theme. The seminar concluded with the distribution of mementos and certificates, and a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Nusrat Nabi (AP, Urdu).
The seminar witnessed a significant turnout of students and faculty members, underscoring the importance of the topic and the enthusiasm for intellectual discourse within the academic community.
