MCM holds AI themed iTech Fiesta 2025

CHANDIGARH, Mar 19: The Department of Computer Science and Applications at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, organised Department of Science and Technology and Renewable Energy, Chandigarh Administration sponsored 'iTech Fiesta 2025'- an Inter-College IT Fest, under the aegis of MCM Vigyan Manch. The theme of the fest was 'Artificial Intelligence: Applications, Ethics and Responsibilities'. The fest aimed to offer a platform to students for self-actualisation, exploration, and showcasing of their technical and extra-curricular skills while deliberating on various aspects of AI. Dr. Anuj Sharma, Chairperson, Department of Computer Science and Applications, Panjab University, and Dr. Sonal Chawla, Professor, Department of Computer Science and Applications, Panjab University were the Chief Guests for the inaugural and valedictory, respectively. Dr. Anuj Sharma lauded the organisers for providing the students with a launch pad for their innovative ideas relating to real life problems. He also talked about the exponential growth of technology and the significant contribution of AI in various sectors. Prof. Sonal Chawla shared practical tips with the audience on embracing AI.
The fest witnessed enthusiastic participation of over 154 students from 13 colleges across the tricity. Participants competed in various stimulating competitions that tested their IT and programming skills. The events organised included IT Quiz, Web Designing, Debugging, e-Collage Making, Research-based Poster Presentation, e-Waste Modelling, Movie Making and IT-based Rangoli. Cultural programme by the students of the Department brought to fore the artistic side of the future IT professionals. The fest culminated with a prize distribution ceremony.
Appreciating the endeavour of the department to showcase the IT and programming skills of students and encourage healthy competition, Officiating Principal Ms. Suman Mahajan said that such events are an apt platform for the students to not only display their talent but also to assess their strengths and weaknesses and learn from the experts.
