3/19/2025 10:21:30 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 19: Agitated over the non performance of R&B Deptt and massive siphoning of funds meant for road connectivity in Nagrota Assembly constituency, Mr Harsh Dev Singh Former Minister and State President JKNPP (India) held a dharna outside legislative assembly demanding a high level probe into the massive irregularities, bunglings and large scale loot of funds meant for roads and bridges under various heads in the said constituency, Mr Singh sought stern penal action against the fraudsters and delinquents besides sacking of deadwood and corrupt officers.
Describing Nagrota constituency as amongst the most backward and neglected constituencies of J&K UT, Mr Singh said that several dozens of villages were without connectivity especially in the blocks of Dansal, Mathwar and Nagrota. Most of the roads wherever constructed were in completely dilapidated condition with none to take cognizance. The funds were being looted in collusion leaving the people high and dry. With deepest pot holes on Nagrota Division roads, the officers concerned have displayed the highest level of criminal apathy and needed to be taken to task.
Making a particular mention of the roads lying in dilapidated condition for the last 7-8 years, Mr Singh said no action whatsoever had been taken even to fill the potholes or smoothen the road surface on Dhok Wazira road, Chandi Malpur road, Surinsar- Urkhal road, Kathar- Kangryal road, Chann Farati road, Madeen- Makwal road, Dansal- Tarah road, Shadali- Churta road etc. Besides there was no road connectivity in villages including Balaad, Battal Lair, Sangar, Chilla, Badga, Nali, Tarha, Jindrah Devak, Charangal, Nakhtar Nala, Loakhi, Chibba Nala, Channi Jandyal besides several other habitations.
Protesting outside the legislative assembly for complete neglect of the Nagrota constituency, Mr Singh sought personal indulgence of Minister incharge and commissioner/ secretary PWD in view of officers having completely abdicated their responsibilities and corruption having engulfed the entire constituency with a corrupt mafia calling the shots.
