| Governor perform Havan, offers puja at Vaishno Devi | | |
KATRA, SEPTEMBER 23- Governor Lt. General (Retd) S K Sinha today paid obeisance at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine and prayed for universal peace and brotherhood.
At the onset of Navratras, the Governor participated in Shat Chandi Mahayagya and offered Puran Ahuti. Amid recital of Vedic hymens, he prayed for universal brotherhood and peace in Jammu and Kashmir. He also offered pujas in the sanctum sanctorum.
Principal Secretary to Governor and Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Dr Arun Kumar and Additional Chief Executive Officer, Mr Puneet Kumar also joined in the Pujas.
Earlier, the Governor, who is Chairman of SMVDSB, inspected various ongoing works in the Bhavan and its periphery that included sewerage treatment plant, setting up of additional 800 lockers for the pilgrims, waiting hall adjacent to the stairs and other works aimed at reducing congestion and regulating pilgrim traffic.
General Sinha inaugurated the exit tunnel which will help in streamlining the pilgrimage and reduce congestion in the cave shrine. |
