JAMMU, Mar 21: Jammu's young fencing star, Subhanaya Sharma, has been selected to represent India at the Cadet and Junior Fencing World Championship in Wuxi, China. She earned this prestigious opportunity after a stellar performance at the 19th Cadet National Fencing Championship in Uttarakhand, where she clinched a bronze medal in the Sabre event. Before the championship, Subhanaya will undergo rigorous training at a Sports Authority of India coaching camp in Pune from March 20 to April 11, 2025.
Madam Nuzhat Gul, Secretary of the J&K Sports Council, and international fencer Rashid Ahmed Choudhary praised her achievement, calling it a proud moment for the region. Her coach, Mr. Ujjwal Gupta, a decorated former fencer, continues to guide her journey.
