Omar Govt focused to development rural far-flung areas: Rattan Lal Gupta
3/21/2025 10:56:19 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 21: The Omar Abdullah-led government is resolute in its commitment to focus the equitable development of far-flung areas, particularly in the Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal region. The previous regime has miserably failed to address the developmental needs of these neglected areas for continuously 10 years, leaving them deprived of basic infrastructure and essential services.
This was stated by Adv. Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of JKNC, while interacting with a deputation at Sher-e- Kashmir Bhavan, Jammu from Padder headed by its Block President Janki Nath who presented a Book named "PADDER THE DEV DHARTI" Written by Dhoulat Ram of Padder to the Provincial President highlighting the deplorable condition of the region. He said people's problems have increased manifold in absence of basic amenities due to anti-people policies adopted by the earlier government. He lamented that despite its immense tourism potential, Paddar has remained neglected due to the lack of interest from successive regimes. He urged the administration to take immediate measures to boost infrastructure and promote tourism in the area. He further highlighted the acute shortage of healthcare facilities as no doctor available in PHC stating that people are forced to travel long distances for medical treatment at Kishtwar. The absence of essential administrative officers such as Tehsildars in Gulabgarh and Machail has only exacerbated the hardships of local residents.
Rattan Lal Gupta, while addressing the concerns, strongly criticized the previous administration for failing to uplift far-flung areas. He stated that the neglect of regions like Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal region reflected the inefficiency and apathy of the earlier government, which failed to utilize the area's tourism potential and improve infrastructure.
He stated that unemployment has peaked due to the anti-people policies of the past regime, leaving the youth disillusioned. Additionally, the education sector in these remote regions is in shambles, with schools lacking basic facilities and key administrative positions such as Zonal Education Officers remaining vacant.
The senior NC leader assured the deputation that their grievances would be taken up at the highest level and pressed for immediate government intervention. He said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has earmarked funds for the equitable development of rural and far-flung areas across Jammu and Kashmir. He reiterated that the NC-led government is committed to bridging the gap between urban and rural development and ensuring that the long-neglected regions receive their due share of progress. The companies constructing power projects are not giving employment to the local youths. He emphasized that the Job preference should be given to the local youth.
Calling upon the people to strengthen the hands of the National Conference, Gupta affirmed that NC is the only party that has consistently worked for the upliftment of marginalized communities. He urged the administration to expedite developmental projects, particularly in areas with high tourism potential, to generate employment and boost the local economy.
