3/22/2025 10:04:56 PM
Early Times Report
POONCH, Mar 22: In a recent assembly session, Ajaz Ahmed Jan, Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Poonch Haveli, strongly voiced concerns over multiple pressing issues impacting his constituency. He called for immediate government intervention to address these challenges, ensuring justice and development for the people of Poonch Haveli.
Key Issues Raised by Ajaz Ahmed Jan:
Failures in Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) Scheme
Jan highlighted severe irregularities in the implementation of the JJM scheme, alleging that 95% of reported works exist only on paper. He pointed out that:
70% of laborers remain unpaid.
Water tanks are leaking due to substandard materials.
Pipes meant for distribution are being illegally sold.
The scheme has negatively impacted existing water supply systems.
Low-quality motors have led to frequent breakdowns.
Demand: A CBI/NIA or House committee inquiry to investigate these alleged scams and mismanagement.
Plight of Daily Wage Workers
Jan emphasized the urgent need to ensure timely payments and improve the working conditions of daily wage laborers.
Forest Destruction & Delayed Approvals for Fallen Trees
He expressed concern over deforestation due to snowfall and illegal activities. Thousands of people have applied for dry fallen trees, but no approvals have been granted to date.
Equal Implementation of Tribal Welfare Plans
Jan demanded uniform execution of tribal welfare programs across the entire state, ensuring no regional discrimination.
Hostels for Gujjar, Bakarwal & Pahari Students
To support education for underprivileged communities, he urged the government to construct two new hostels in Mandi and Poonch blocks.
Wildlife Attacks & Lack of Compensation
With numerous cases of people being injured by wild animals (bears, etc.), Jan criticized the Wildlife and Forest Departments for failing to provide compensation to the victims.
Illegal Crusher Operations
The MLA raised concerns over unauthorized stone crushers operating on forest land, causing massive environmental damage and illegal material extraction. He called for strict action against those responsible.
Ajaz Ahmed Jan urged the government to take immediate corrective measures on these pressing matters. He reaffirmed his commitment to fighting for the rights of the people of Poonch Haveli and ensuring their issues are heard and addressed at the highest levels.
