| Ladakh parliamentary constituency | | Filling of nomination papers begins from today | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Leh, Apr 16: The filling of nomination papers would commence from tomorrow till 24th April, for 4-Ladakh Parliamentary Constituency. This was disclosed by the Returning Officer, A. K Sahu while talking to the media persons here today.
He said that all the arrangements have been made for smooth, fair and free elections in Leh and Kargil districts. He said that over 1.50 lakh voters would exercise their franchise during the election which would be held, if necessary, on 13th May, 2009 in both the district which has four Assembly segments while answering to a questions he said that micro observes have been appointed for some critical polling stations and training for handling of EVM and counting of votes have been conducted at all the sub-Divisions. He said that required polling staffs have also been enlisted and the final randomization of their deployment would be held on May 6th.
Sahu further said that Helicopter services have also been arranged for inaccessible polling stations of both Leh and Kargil districts and mater has been taken up with the higher authorities to arrange Helicopter services in case of closure of Khardongla road and Kargil-Padum road.
The Returning Officer also appealed to all the Political parties, Associations and individuals to cooperate with the administration to conduct election in a free, fair, transparent and smooth manner.
