| Unemployment and stress | | | Esha Chopra Jammu, Apr 16: Stress is a part of everyday life and it keeps many people from functioning at their optimum level because they do not know how stressed they are or how to control. Uncontrolled stress prevents you from reaching your full potential. The root cause of all evils prevailing in the country is economic insecurity. Behind every crime poverty plays an important role. In the present age the world is facing the problem of unemployment and terrorism. And being unemployed the terrorists finds the youth an easy target to ‘lure’ for anti-social activities. They are brain washed on the pretext of religion, region, caste etc. and to urge, to find means for ‘quick money’ making lands them in the trap of anti-social activities/elements. Being an unemployed youth they are forced to read so many books despite the fact whether he or she has a taste or aptitude for the books that they burdened, but still they are doing to get a place in a society even at the cost of their health. They usually develops a sense of loneliness, and stress which is as harmful as smoking, alcohol and obesity. Under stress they injects the sense of rejection or isolation, increases blood pressure and the chances of developing other clinical problems. Loneliness leads stress. Stress leads to higher blood pressure and an increased level of depression. It’s the responsibility of the family members, friends, teachers to help, support and educate them from the very beginning towards the morality and values, so that they just come out from loneliness. Parents are the backbone of the child. They should understand that if, their child is weak in one field, may be excellent in another field. They have to understand their likings, disliking, aptitudes, interest and above all their skills. As a research scholar in psychology, I advice all the youth to keep the options open and should ready always for a change, select fairly in which field they can show and perform their best and moreover always seek to motivate themselves. At last, they should keep one thing in mind, ‘Hope for the best but be prepared for the worst.’ “Esha Chopra”.
