GDC Vijaypur holds Slogan Writing Activity on Drug Awareness

JAMMU, Mar 26: Department of Sociology of Government Degree College Vijaypur organised slogan writing activity on the theme, "Drug as a Major Urban Problem" under the supervision and guidance of Prof. (Dr.) VandanaVerma, Principal of the college. The main objective of the activity was to create awareness among the students about the drugs and its consequences. Drug use can affect short- and long-term health, including physical and mental health. More than 15 college students enthusiastically participated in the activity and created impressive slogans for awareness. The students put forward their thoughts slogans which carried a message of reasons why youth should stay away from drugs. Such slogans have a great impact on changing people thoughts.The activity commenced with the welcome address by Dr. Anoop Kumar Bhagat, HOD Sociology. He briefed the students about the ill effects of the drugs on youth and how it has become a major urban problem. He said that the drugs are a challenge not only to the individual but also to the society. He motivated students to refrain themselves from such kind of substances. In continuation to this he also added that such activities can be considered a great step in creating wide scale awareness among youths and civil society. The certificate of appreciation was given to all the participants. The activity was coordinated by Department of sociology under the headship of Dr. Anoop Kumar Bhagat (HOD, Sociology) along with Dr. Priyanka Ganjoo and Ms. Pooja Devi. The faculty members who joined the activity were Prof. Anita Jamwal, Prof. Mamta Gupta, Dr. Manoj Heer, Dr. Naseem Chowdhary and Prof. Meetu Sharma.
