| PDP, BJP are hand-in-glove on many fronts: Omar | | ‘One hundred lies by PDP cannot make one truth’ | | Salman Nizami JAMMU, April 16: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today clarified that whenever there will extension of cabinet only those MLA’s will be given birth in the cabinet whose performance during the Lok Sabha elections stands satisfactory. He also cautioned the people about the designs of divisive forces bent upon creating fissures in the society and tearing apart the secular fabric of the state.
While campaigning for the coalition-backed candidate of the Congress party, Chowdhary Lal Singh, and addressing a series of public meeting on his whirlwind tour of Riasi and Ramban districts in Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha constituency, Omar Abdullah today cautioned audiences of the “designs of divisive forces bent upon creating fissures in the society and tearing apart the secular fabric of the state”. While addressing public meetings at Arnas, Judda and Panasa, Jigbagli, Gool, Sangaldan and Dewal, he said that both PDP and BJP were fanning communal emotions to seek vote. “You have to reject this type of tactics and stand like a rock against the politics of deceit and division”, he added. Referring to PDP, Omar said that falsehood was its trade mark and this party had always survived on circulating lies and raising slogans of emotional blackmail. “One hundred lies of PDP cannot make one truth”, he said and added that the dual face of this party had come to fore at the time of election of MLCs when it joined hands with BJP. In March, PDP and BJP had joined hands in order to defeat one of NC’s candidates. It was because of this “confluence of the absurd” that Panthers Party’s Rafeeq Shah had defeated the ruling coalition nominee and become a member of the Legislative Council earlier last month. Advising PDP to shun the practice of raising accusing fingers towards others reminding them of their flop-show as a coalition partner in the previous government, Omar said “Those who indulge in axing coalition partners by their opportunist approach for petty political gains need not give sermons to others on CMP”, he maintained. Beseeching the people not to fall prey to the propagandist approach of PDP and BJP, Omar appealed them to reject the politics of emotional blackmail and work for the success of coalition candidates to ensure equitable development of all areas. Chief Minister said that NC-Congress coalition government is committed to equitable development, permanent peace and welfare of all sections of the society irrespective of any consideration. “We share Common Principals of secularism and believe in unity and amity of the State”, he said. Abdullah said that the hundred days of the coalition government though not a period to gauge the performance of a government and even though as much of this period was spent in Legislature business and Lok Sabha electioneering, the government kick started revolutionary measures in the crucial sectors of employment, power, health, road communication and education. Chief Minister said that post election scenario will witness the revolutionary change in the fast track infrastructural development process. “Every area will get equal share in the distribution of resources and development programs”, he said adding that coalition government is committed to focus of attention for upliftment of backward pockets of the state. “Planners have been sanitized to formulate schemes aimed at accelerated development of all areas”, Abdullah said and added that faster development of far-flung villages and welfare of hitherto under developed areas has been made the focal point of policy planning. The meetings were also addressed by Ch. Lal Singh, Aijaz Ahmad Khan, Abdul Gani Malik, G.Q. Mughal and others local leaders from Congress and NC. They appealed the people to vote for coalition candidate for peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir. They said that UPA government led by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi paid special attention for the development and peace in Jammu and Kashmir. They said that UPA was keen to bring about economic change in the rural and backward areas providing these equal opportunities to develop and grow. |
