SRINAGAR: Awami National Conference (ANC) President, Khalida Shah has been nominated as party candidate from Srinagar parliamentary constituency,
where she will be pitted against her brother and NC chief Farooq Abdulla.
"Our party president Khalida Shah is contesting the elections from Srinagar parliamentary constituency," senior vice president of the party Muzaffar Shah told reporters.
The decision to field the widow of former chief minister G M Shah would add colour to the contest as her brother and president of National Conference Farooq Abdullah is also contesting polls from the same constituency.
Shah said the party also decided to support the candidature of Mufti Nazim-ud-din of Save Srinagar Front in Hazratbal assembly constituency.
By-elections to Hazratbal and Sonawar assembly constituencies would be held along with general elections.
Bypolls were necessitated as the National Conference president vacated the two seats following his election to the Rajya Sabha.
