SKUAST-J VC visits Reasi, engages with SHG members

Reasi, Mar 29: Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-J, Prof. B.N. Tripathi, visited Kothian village in Reasi district and interacted with members of various Self Help Groups (SHGs) and rural entrepreneurs. The visit aimed at reviewing the activities of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi, with a special focus on rural women's empowerment.
During the interaction, Prof. Tripathi discussed innovative strategies to enhance income and employment opportunities for women SHG members. He lauded the efforts of KVK Reasi in uplifting the farming community and supporting rural women.
Dr. Hema Tripathi, Associate Director Extension, appreciated the SHG members for promoting Dogra cuisine and emphasized the role of agro-ecotourism and food processing in boosting rural income. She assured all possible technical support to the groups and encouraged them to develop value-added products.
Welcoming the dignitaries, Dr. Banarsi Lal, Chief Scientist & Head, KVK Reasi, provided insights into the ongoing activities of KVK under the ARYA (Attracting and Retaining Youths in Agriculture) project. He highlighted the organization’s efforts in promoting rural entrepreneurship and skill development.
Dr. Sudhakar Dwivedi, Dean Student Welfare, Reasi, and Dr. Reeta Dwivedi also interacted with the SHG members, discussing their progress and challenges. Smt. Neelam Devi, Sarpanch of Kothian Panchayat, expressed gratitude to KVK Reasi for its continuous support in establishing rural enterprises.
The visit also saw the participation of Sh. Manohar Lal from KVK Reasi, progressive farmers S. Gurdev Singh and Sh. Kamal Dev, and other dignitaries. Dr. Banarsi Lal extended a vote of thanks, acknowledging the support and encouragement from the visiting officials.
The program highlighted the commitment of SKUAST-J and KVK Reasi towards empowering rural women and promoting sustainable agricultural development in the region.
