POONCH, Mar 29: The Indian Army organized an insightful lecture on women empowerment at Hill Dhok, Satharban Poonch. The event aimed at raising awareness about various empowerment schemes in rural Jammu and Kashmir. The session emphasized that empowering women is essential for building a better future. When women are empowered, society as a whole is empowered, paving the way for progress and prosperity. The lecture highlighted several government initiatives aimed at achieving this goal, including the National Policy of Education, Mahila Samakhya, the National Commission for Women, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, the National Programme for Education of Girls at the Elementary Level and the Swayam Siddha Women Empowerment Programme, among others. A special focus was also placed on encouraging women's participation in the Indian Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) through various schemes. The girls in attendance expressed their appreciation for the Indian Army's efforts to educate them about these vital programs, recognizing that the knowledge gained will significantly improve their outlook on life and contribute to a higher standard of living in the long run. In addition to the lecture, a small medical camp was also organized to address minor health concerns of the local community.
