| 77,514 electors to vote in Kargil district | | Shaday highest, Hundurman-Mal lowest PS | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Apr 17-As many as 77,514 electors including 607 service voters of Kargil district will exercise their franchise during Lok Sabha elections for Ladakh Parliamentary constituency scheduled to be held on May 13 in the fifth phase. Out of the total electorate, 38, 892 are male and 38,622 are female electors for which 237 polling stations are being set up in the district. Thirty seven polling stations in the district have been declared as hyper sensitive while as 35 are sensitive polling stations. Polling station Shaday in Zanskar sub-division, situated at an altitude of 13,850 feet is the highest altitude polling booth while as 80-Hundurman-mal situated at 8500 feet is the lowest altitude polling station in the district. To ensure free, fair and transparent elections in Kargil district the district administration has made all the election-related arrangements, besides ensuring fool-proof security at the different polling stations. Kargil district has been divided into 17 zones and 42 sectors and a Zonal Magistrate along with Zonal officers have been deployed in each zone with adequate number of security personnel. Men and material for all 49 polling stations of Zanskar Sub-Division are being air lifted from Kargil as a result of blocked roads due to heavy snowfall.
