Congress misled, misrule J&K for decades, BJP delivering on promises: Kavinder
3/31/2025 10:04:38 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 31: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta has strongly countered the Congress party's criticism of the BJP-led Central Government, holding the Congress squarely responsible for the decades of turmoil and underdevelopment in Jammu and Kashmir. He asserted that during its more than 60 years of rule at the Centre, Congress failed to bring any meaningful change to the region, while the Modi government has transformed J&K over the last decade.
Responding to the statements made by Congress leaders, Kavinder Gupta pointed out that it was Congress that allowed terrorism to thrive in J&K by pursuing weak policies, appeasement tactics, and lack of a firm security framework. "The current situation in Jammu and Kashmir is a direct result of Congress' decades-long misrule, during which corruption, dynastic politics, and policy paralysis prevailed," he said.
In a press statement issued here today, the BJP stalwart lauded the Modi government's bold steps, including the abrogation of Article 370, which has ushered in a new era of peace and development. "Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed unprecedented progress. The influx of tourists has increased manifold, infrastructure projects are being completed at a record pace, and law and order have significantly improved," he stated.
Highlighting the economic boost, he said that record-breaking tourist footfall, enhanced connectivity, and industrial investments have created new employment opportunities, which were never a priority for Congress governments. "While Congress only paid lip service, Modi's government has delivered real results," he remarked.
On the issue of statehood, Kavinder reiterated that the Central Government is committed to restoring statehood to J&K at an appropriate time. "Unlike the Congress, which used J&K for political gains without addressing real issues, the BJP is working with a clear roadmap for the region's long-term stability and prosperity," he said.
Slamming Congress for spreading misinformation and misleading people, Kavinder urged the opposition party to acknowledge the ground reality. "The people of J&K have seen the difference between Congress' failures and BJP's vision. They stand with Modi's mission of a 'Naya Jammu-Kashmir,'" he added.
