Desh Bhagat University hosts a two-day national seminar

MANDI GOBINDGARH, Apr 1: University School of Law, Desh Bhagat University successfully organized a two-day national seminar on "Unlocking Punjab's Water Wealth: A Bharat-Centric Blue Economy Approach to Holistic Human Sustainable Development" under the aegis of ICSSR. The seminar brought together eminent scholars, legal experts and research scholars to discuss the crucial issue of water conservation and sustainable management.
The event commenced with a warm welcome of the esteemed guests by Dr. Divya Khurana, Head of the University School of Law. The inaugural session was graced by the presence of the university's top leadership, including the Dr Zora Singh Chancellor, Dr Tajinder Kaur Pro-Chancellor, Dr Virinder Singh Advisor to the Chancellor and Dr Harsh Sadawarti Vice-President of Desh Bhagat University.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Viney Kapoor Mehra, former Vice-Chancellor of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University, Sonepat, Haryana, delivered an insightful address, elaborating on the seminar's theme and the significance of water conservation in sustainable development. Advocate Chetan Verma, Vice-Chairman, Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour, emphasizing the importance of water management in legal and policy frameworks.
Prominent keynote speakers, including Dr. Rattan Singh, Professor of Law, University Institute of Law, Panjab University, Chandigarh, and Dr. Jyoti Rattan, Professor of Law, Department of Law, Panjab University, Chandigarh, shared their scholarly perspectives on water resource management and its legal implications.
Following the inaugural session, a series of technical sessions commenced, featuring research paper presentations by scholars in both online and offline modes. Dr. Rajiv Bhalla, Professor, University Institute of Law, Chandigarh University, and Dr. Vinit, Assistant Professor, University Institute of Law, Chandigarh University, chaired the sessions and provided valuable insights.
On the second day, the seminar continued with paper presentations, chaired by distinguished academicians, including Dr. Monika Ahuja and Dr. Monika Chawla, Professors, Department of Law, Punjabi University, Patiala, and Dr. Nimmi, University Institute of Law, Punjabi University, Patiala.
The event concluded with the Valedictory Session, where Dr. Bharat, Dean, University Institute of Law, Panjab University, Chandigarh, attended as the Chief Guest. Dr. Bharat beautifully explained the seminar's topic, emphasizing its relevance in addressing Punjab's water challenges through a blue economy approach. His insights provided a roadmap for sustainable water conservation policies Dr. Avon Kumar Vaid, Principal, Amritsar Law College, Amritsar, delivered an address highlighting the concept and necessity of water conservation.
The seminar concluded with the reading of the Seminar Report and a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Anu Mutneja, Assistant Professor, University School of Law, Desh Bhagat University. The event was a resounding success, fostering insightful discussions and paving the way for sustainable water management strategies in Punjab and beyond.
