Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 7: In alignment with the global theme "Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures," Army Public School Damana celebrated World Health Day 2025 with a series of enthusiastic, educational, and health-centric activities aimed at instilling healthy habits among students and families.
The day commenced with a special morning assembly by students of Class X-D, who shared powerful messages on the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle. The assembly set the tone for a day full of energy and learning, focused on holistic well-being.
A variety of Inter-Class CCA and athletic activities were conducted to reinforce the theme. Among the highlights was the "What's in My Tiffin - Protein-Rich Food" competition for Class VI, and a vibrant Salad-Making Competition for Classes VII and VIII. Students enthusiastically participated, showcasing colorful, nutritious dishes while learning about the value of fresh and balanced meals.
The event was graced by special guest Dr. Suman Shan (MBBS, MS), a seasoned medical expert with experience at Acharya Shri Chander College, ECHS Bhuj, Gangtok, and Polyclinic Mamun Cantt. Her interactive session for parents was a cornerstone of the celebration, focusing on raising awareness about maintaining children's physical and mental health. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Shan emphasized the importance of a balanced diet, limited screen time, and spending quality time with children. She also drew attention to the rising concern of vitamin D deficiency, advising parents to ensure children get regular sunlight exposure. Her guidance struck a chord with many, especially when she encouraged real-world family bonding over digital interaction.
During the session, an insightful question from Ridit Singh of Class VII-on how families can bond without relying on social media-led to a meaningful discussion on nurturing deeper, offline connections.
Principal Mrs. Puspinder Kaur highlighted the importance of World Health Day in her address, noting that true happiness and success stem from good health. She urged students and parents alike to adopt wellness practices and contribute to building a healthier society.
