Jammu's Masters Swimmers Shine with 19 Medals at 7th National Masters Games

JAMMU, Apr 7: In a stellar performance at the 7th Masters National Games held in Mohali, a five-member Masters Swimming team from Jammu made waves by securing a total of 19 medals, including 7 golds, 9 silvers, and 3 bronzes, proudly representing Jammu & Kashmir on the national stage.
Led by veteran swimmer David Sandhu (46+), the team included Rudraksh Gupta (30+), Rajesh Singh (36+), Kulbhushan Jamwal (72+), and Pragun Bhalwal (30+). Despite the age diversity, the swimmers displayed unity, strength, and determination, dominating both individual and relay events.
Highlights of the team's performance include:
Kulbhushan Jamwal (72+): Silver in 4x50 Medley Relay, Bronze in 50m Backstroke
Rudraksh Gupta (30+): Gold in 200m Individual Medley, Silver in 50m & 100m Breaststroke, Gold in 4x50 Freestyle Relay, Silver in 4x50 Medley Relay
Pragun Bhalwal (30+): Gold in 50m Freestyle, Silver in 4x50 Medley Relay, Bronze in 50m Breaststroke & 100m Freestyle
David Sandhu (46+): Gold in 4x50 Freestyle Relay, Silver in 4x50 Medley Relay & 50m Breaststroke
Rajesh Singh (36+): Gold in 50m Backstroke & 4x50 Freestyle Relay, Silver in 50m Breaststroke & 50m Freestyle
The team's chemistry was especially evident in the relay events, where coordination and teamwork earned them multiple podium finishes.
Rudraksh Gupta's gold in the 200m Individual Medley and his crucial role in the relays earned him special appreciation. The team also acknowledged the contributions of S. Ravinder Singh and Mousmi for introducing them to the sport and their unwavering support.
Ranjeet Singh Chib, President of the Jammu and Kashmir Masters Games Association (JKMGA), and Neete Kour, General Secretary JKMGA, lauded the swimmers' dedication and congratulated them for bringing pride to the Union Territory.
The inspiring performance of the Jammu Masters Swimming team proves that age is no barrier to excellence and sets a new benchmark for the sport in the region. The swimmers now look forward to continuing their winning streak in future national and international events.
