| Dogra rulers encourage Urdu language in J&K: Malik | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 18: ‘The Urdu language which had played a vital role during freedom struggle of the country and beside being a official language of J&K state has been neglected by the successive governments in the state,’ said Dr. Shohib Inayat Malik, Prof of Urdu in University of Jammu at a extension lecturer series, organized by post graduate deptt of Urdu, Bhaderwah College today. As per press release, Malik has said that it were Dogra rulers, particularly Mahajan Ranbir Singh who encourages Urdu language in the state, and later on Maharaja Partap Singh declared Urdu as an official language of the J&K state. Malik said, Urdu is the third language in the world which is widely spoken but after partition it received set back. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr. Tariq Tamleen H.O.D Urdu P.G. College Bhaderwah and also presented vote of thanks. The Chief Guest was principal of College Prof. Mohd Iqbal.
