| 4-day training workshop for teachers, students inaugurated | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 18- J&K AIDS Prevention and Control Society in collaboration with State Institute of Education, Directorate of School Education Jammu launched Adolescent Education Program for AIDS awareness here today. In this context, a 4-day training workshop for teachers/students of government high/higher secondary schools of Jammu province was inaugurated by Project Director, J&K AIDS Control Society Dr M A Wani who was the chief guest on the function. Dr Wani gave a detailed power point presentation on the need of wholesome awareness on HIV/AIDS in the society especially by teachers and religious leaders in order to curb the menace of AIDS. He also explained the need for creating Red Ribbon Clubs in educational institutions in order to augment the process of AIDS control and AIDS awareness by involving the youth as they are the future of our county and can play a vital role in bringing behavioral change in the minds of the common people. In the interactive session which followed the presentation Dr Wani answered various queries which the teachers were having in their minds regarding this program. Dr Sajjad Shafi also spoke on occasion and gave a detailed lecture on different issues related of HIV/AIDS and the importance of the role of teachers in combating HIV/AIDS by empowering their students for the battle against AIDS.
