| Parliamentary Elections 2009 | | Poll staff of Basohli Assembly segment to report at JNV, Basohli | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 18 –The Assistant Returning Officer, Basohli has asked all the Presiding and Polling officers deputed on poll duty in 64-Basohli Assembly segment of Kathua district of Udhampur Parliamentary constituency to report at JNV, Basohli on April 21 at 10:30 A.M. for introduction of the polling parties assigned different polling stations in the segment. Daman seeks votes for PDP candidate Kathua, Apr 18- PDP General Secretary Daman Bhasin today appealed the people to support Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections for ensuring lasting peace, prosperity and development of the State in general and backward areas in particular. Addressing series of public meetings at Mawa, Rajpura, Kathua and adjoining localities in support of party candidate Thakur Balbir Singh, Bhasin asked the people to compare three year term of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed with governments of other political parties. He said that discrimination with Jammu region was removed only during the regime of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed who as Chief Minister had set an example of good governance. He especially mentioned various developmental projects started in Jammu region during the tenure of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. He said that the National Conference is the mother of all problems and reminded that NC leaders made false promises with the people during the assembly elections. He asked the people to remain vigilant against designs of coalition regime. Speaking on the occasion, H R Chargotra, chairman of the OBC-SC cell of the PDP, said that PDP has laid strong foundation for establishing sustainable peace and tranquility in the Jammu and Kashmir. He recalled the situation that was prevailing in the State when Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had taken over as Chief Minister. "It is all due to the visionary policies of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed that both India and Pakistan were convinced to announce ceasefire on border", he pointed out and added that people from Kathua to Kargil are now living peacefully all due to the efforts of PDP leadership. SP accuses govt. of ignoring plights of people Jammu, Apr 18- Expressing concern over the plight of people, Samajwadi Party (SP) today accused successive government including present coalition government for its callous attitude to solve the problems of the state. Addressing a public rally at Bhaderwah former MP and state president of the party Sheikh Abdul Rehman said that state government has failed to solve the problems of employment and militancy. Rehman said that Congress party and Bharatiya Janta Party have been exploiting people on the name of religion, region, and caste adding said that people are being befooled by the false promises. He also appealed the people to cast their votes in favour of his party candidates. He addressed similar public rallies at Indra, Dugli, Malothi, Grikha besides others He was accompanied by Amrita Virsha, Sham Lal, state vice president retired Colonel Bahudar Singh and others.
