| CS visits Srinagar Secretariat, reviews Darbar Move arrangements | | Asks PHE, Traffic departments to prepare contingency plans for summer | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Apr18- Chief Secretary S. S. Kapur reviewed arrangements being made for the annual Darbar Move at a high-level meeting of officers, here today. Director General of Police (DGP), Kuldeep Khoda, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Masaud Samoon, Commissioner/Secretary, R&B, Mehboob Iqbal, Secretary Tourism, Tanveer Jehan and IGP Kashmir, Dr. B. Srinivas, heads of all engineering departments and other senior officers of the administration attended the meeting. The Divisional Commissioner informed the Chief Secretary that proper deployment of police personnel has been made on the eve of Darbar Move and ongoing Parliamentary elections in the State. He was also briefed about the arrangements being made by various departments for the employees of Move offices. The meeting was told that restoration work on several roads is going on and it would be completed within the stipulated time. The Chief Secretary asked for proper maintenance of the Airport Road and plantation of ornamental plants on both sides of the road. He also impressed upon the BSNL authorities to improve their services in the valley for which he assured all help from the State government. He, in particular, asked about the pace of work going on to connect Gurez valley through mobile telephony and asked the Divisional Commissioner to review the pace with BSNL authorities. The Chief Secretary asked the PHE department to prepare a contingency plan for the coming summer in view of the inadequate snow the valley had during winter. He also asked the Traffic department to prepare an action plan to tackle congestion on roads. He also asked the Tourism department and SMC to undertake a vigorous campaign to make the city clean by involving citizenry. The meeting was told that 52 coaches of SRTC and two ambulances of the State Health Department would be pressed into service to ferry Move employees from Jammu to Srinagar. The meeting was also informed that CA&PD and PHE departments have made elaborate arrangements at the colonies of Move employees. Director, Health Services, said medical aid centres would be set up in all the government flats and hotels where Darbar Move employees will be housed. He said 24-hour medical service will also be ensured. Earlier, the Chief Secretary visited the Civil Secretariat and took stock of the renovations going on there. He asked for time-bound completion of the works so that employees have a better and relaxed atmosphere to work in. Later, Kapur visited Tulsi Bagh, Budshah flats and Hotel Heemal to take stock of the residential facilities being provided to the Move employees and asked Estates Department to complete the renovation process before Darbar Move.
