SMVDU holds orientation session

KATRA, Apr 10: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) organized an orientation session for the B.Tech 2023 batch at the Matrika Auditorium to introduce students to the various Honors and Minor Specializations offered across engineering disciplines. The event was conducted by the Academic Affairs Section with the aim of helping students tailor their academic paths based on personal interests and emerging industry trends.
The session commenced with opening remarks by Prof. (Dr.) Balbir Singh, Dean Academic Affairs, who thanked Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Pragati Kumar, for his consistent support and visionary leadership. He encouraged students to embrace the academic opportunities available and strive for excellence in their respective fields.
The orientation showcased a broad array of Honors and Minor specializations, including cutting-edge domains such as Artificial Intelligence, Information System Security, VLSI Design, Multimedia Technology, Millimetre Wave Technology, Structural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Power Electronics & Drives, Systems & Control, Robotics & Automation, and 3D Printing & Technology.
Heads of various departments including Dr. V. K. Dogra (Civil Engineering), Dr. Sunanda Gupta (Computer Science & Engineering), Prof. Kumud Ranjan Jha (Electrical Engineering), Dr. Anil Kumar Bhardwaj (Electronics & Communication Engineering), and Dr. Yatheshth Anand (Mechanical Engineering) presented the specialization options in their respective disciplines. An interactive session followed, allowing students to clarify doubts about eligibility, curriculum, and career prospects.
Dr. Shafaq Rasool, Associate Dean Academic Affairs, delivered the vote of thanks, appreciating the efforts of the Vice Chancellor, faculty members, and NSS volunteers who contributed to the successful execution of the event. She encouraged students to actively participate in such initiatives to make informed academic and career decisions.
The event was smoothly moderated by Amook Sharma and Samragyee, final-year M.Sc. Biotechnology students, and concluded with a group photograph capturing the moment of academic inspiration and collaboration.
