| Parliamentary Elections 2009 | | EO reviews poll preparedness at Kishtwar | | Early Times Report Kishtwar, Apr 18- Election Observer (EO) for Doda and Kishtwar districts, Neerja Shekhar today took a meeting of Zonal and Sectoral Magistrates as well as Micro Observers to review arrangements being made in the two Assembly segments of Kishtwar district for the coming Parliamentary elections. Polling for Udhampur Lok Sabha seat, of which Kishtwar district is a part, will be held on April 23 across 17 Assembly segments of six districts, including Kishtwar and Inderwal Assembly segments The meeting was also attended by the District Election Officer (DEO), Kishtwar, G. R. Bhagat, SP, Kishtwar, Commandants of CRPF and CISF, besides Assistant Returning Officers of both the Assembly segments. During the meeting, the EO assessed poll preparedness for the smooth conduct of elections. She reviewed sectoral and zonal management, duties of the magistrates, physical verification of the polling stations, monitoring the activities of the contesting candidates and their agents with reference to the Model Code of Conduct and other guideline of the Election Commission. Addressing the participants, the EO urged upon them to work in a coordinated manner to ensure free, fair and transparent Lok Sabha elections in the district. She also asked them to comply with the guidelines of the Election Commission and stressed for strict observance of Model Code of Conduct by the candidates and party agents in their allotted sectors and zones in the district. The District Election Officer also spoke on the occasion. A total of 1, 44, 357 voters, including 737 service voters, will be eligible to cast their votes in Kishtwar and Inderwal Assembly segments of the district. As many as 203 polling stations will be set up across the district to facilitate voters on polling day.
