Early Times Report
PULWAMA, Apr 10: In a significant step towards improving healthcare accessibility in rural Jammu and Kashmir, Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board, Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, today inaugurated the 'Indian-Oil Heart-Clinic on Wheels' at Hall village in Pulwama district. The mobile heart clinic, a pioneering healthcare initiative, has been launched through a collaboration between the Gauri Kaul Foundation and Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. The inauguration ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Member of Parliament Mian Altaf Ahmad, renowned cardiologist and head of the Gauri Kaul Foundation Dr. Upendra Kaul, GM-HR & CSR IOCL Arif Akhtar, former IOCL CEO M.A. Pathan, Dr. Zubair Saleem, and prominent businessman Mushtaq Chaya. A large number of civil society members, medical professionals, and local residents were also present at the function. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi commended Dr. Kaul and Indian Oil Corporation for their noble initiative, describing the mobile heart clinic as a "boon" for the people of rural Kashmir. "Projects like these under CSR bring much-needed health support to underserved areas. This cardiology clinic on wheels will ensure that even the most remote communities have access to vital medical services," she said.
Dr. Andrabi also emphasized the need for innovative solutions to enhance the region's healthcare infrastructure. She praised Dr. Kaul for his dedicated service to the people of his native region, especially his role in providing out-of-turn medical assistance and raising awareness on cardiac health and rehabilitation. Appealing to local businesses and industry leaders, Dr. Andrabi urged greater participation in CSR-driven developmental initiatives. "There is immense scope for business and industry houses in J&K to contribute meaningfully, especially in the health and education sectors. Rural areas need special focus, and such collaborations can make a real difference," she added.
Dr. Upendra Kaul also addressed the gathering, elaborating on the clinic's objectives and how it aims to bring specialized cardiology care to the doorsteps of the rural population. The mobile clinic is equipped with essential diagnostic tools and will operate in various parts of South Kashmir in the coming months.
