SJVN releases Rs 269.97 Cr land compensation for 3097 MW etalin HEP

Shimla, Apr 10: In a significant step towards accelerating hydro power development in Arunachal Pradesh, SJVN has released Rs. 269.97 crores as land compensation for 3097 MW Etalin Hydro Electric Project in Dibang Valley.
During a review meeting chaired by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Sh. Pema Khandu held today at Tawang, Sh. Raj Kumar Chaudhary, Chairman & Managing Director (Additional Charge), SJVN informed that the land compensation amount was deposited in the joint account of DC & DLRSO, Dibang Valley on 26th March, 2025.
In the review meeting, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Chowna Mein, Chief Secretary, GoAP, Sh. Manish Kumar Gupta, Commissioner (Power), Sh. Sonam Chombay, Advisor to GoAP, Sh. H.K. Paliwal, Secretary (LM), GoAP, Sh A.K.Singh and other senior officials from state government and SJVN were also present.
Hon’ble Chief Minister Sh. Pema Khandu appreciated the collaborative efforts and assured full support from state government for expediting necessary clearances to facilitate project’s sustainable development.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Raj Kumar Chaudhary stated “SJVN is committed to inclusive development of Arunachal Pradesh. The release of this compensation amount is a major step in honoring rights of local communities while ensuring the infrastructural growth of the nation.”
SJVN signed Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Government of Arunachal Pradesh on 12th August 2023 for 3097 MW Etalin Hydro Project along with four other hydro projects in the state, with a total capacity of 5097 MW.
These projects are located in Dibang Valley district and will infuse in combined investment of approximately Rs. 60,000 crores.
Etalin Hydro Electric Project envisages construction of two Dams, one on Dri River and another on Talo (Tangon) River along with an underground Powerhouse Complex. The project is scheduled for commissioning in December 2033.
